URL shortener
Shorten any URL from Dashboard → URL Shortener with a custom back-half — your-slug/launch instead of a forty-character tracking URL. Useful for print, DMs, voice ("go to slash launch") and anywhere a clean link earns trust.
Creating a short link
- Paste the destination URL.
- Choose the back-half — memorable, lowercase, one word if possible.
- Optional protection:
| Guard | What it does |
|---|---|
| Password | Visitors must enter it before redirect |
| Click limit | The link dies after N uses — for limited offers |
| Expiry date | The link stops resolving at the timestamp |
- Save. The short link is live immediately.
Tracking, honestly
Every link carries a 14-day sparkline, referrer split and device split. It is the same first-party, cookieless engine as the rest of your analytics: aggregates, no fingerprints, no third-party trackers. Enough to know what is working; never enough to stalk anyone.
Managing links
- Pause — the link stops redirecting but keeps its history; resume anytime.
- Edit destination — the printed QR still works, the destination changes. This is the trick that makes print safe: point printed codes at short links, never at final URLs.
- Delete — permanent; export stats first if you need them.
The plan sets your quota of active short links; the dashboard shows the count honestly next to the control.
Tip
The power move: create short links for everything you print or say out loud, even when the destination seems settled. "Podcast sponsor changing? Re-target the link." The back-half you say in a microphone should never change — the destination behind it can.
Where short links shine
- Voice and radio — "linkme dot me slash workshop" survives hearing.
- Print — QR plus a readable back-half covers scan-people and type-people.
- Limited drops — click limits and expiry make a link self-enforcing.
- A/B honesty — two short links, two destinations, one sparkline each; the data settles the argument.
Note
Short links inherit the trust of your address — that is the point. Do not wrap destinations you would not sign your name to; the analytics may be anonymous, but your slug is not.
