Editing pages

Everything on your site is edited in one consistent loop: draft → preview → publish. Learn it once and it applies to home-page blocks, custom pages, posts, services and events alike.

The loop

  1. Edit — changes save as a DRAFT, autosaved as you type. Nothing public moves while you work.
  2. Preview — the preview renders your actual content through the same renderer the public site uses. What you see is what visitors will see — same fonts, same callouts, same tables.
  3. Publish — one deliberate click snapshots the page and pushes it live.

Draft/publish, precisely

ActionPublic site
Editing a published pageUnchanged until publish
UnpublishingReturns to draft; URL 404s (content kept)
RepublishingLive again, new version recorded

This split is the reason you can redesign at 2 AM: worst case, the public page is simply still the old one.

Versions and restore

Every publish snapshots a version (the last 5 are kept). A redesign gone wrong is a restore away: open the page's versions, pick the snapshot, restore — the restored state becomes the new draft for further edits. Versions exist so that boldness is cheap.

Tip

Publish before big edits. Restoring needs a snapshot to restore TO — press publish on the current state before you start tearing things apart, and you have guaranteed yourself a way back.

Autosave and its honest edge

Autosave protects you from crashes and closed tabs — the draft is on the server continuously. Its edge: autosave saves what is THERE, including the half-deleted paragraph you were about to retype. The undo history inside the editor covers the session; versions cover published states.

Keyboard-first editing

  • The editor accepts markdown shortcuts as you type (## , - , bold) — see Rich text & markdown.
  • Blocks reorder with drag or keyboard controls.
  • Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes your last editor action — including an AI-assisted edit; the assistant works through the same pipeline (see What the AI can do).

Note

Deleted is not the same as drafted. Drafts and versions are recoverable; deletion is permanent — the full picture is in Deleting content. When in doubt, unpublish instead of delete.
