Custom domains

A custom domain turns you on LinkMe into you.com — the address you own, registered with any registrar, pointed at your site with two DNS settings. Dashboard → Domains walks the flow; this guide is the map.

The two records

Your addressRecordPoints to
blog.yourname.com (subdomain)CNAMEThe platform CNAME target shown in the dashboard
yourname.com (apex/root)A recordThe platform IP shown in the dashboard

Your registrar's DNS panel is where the record goes — the dashboard shows the exact values for YOUR site, so copy from there, not from a tutorial. Add ONLY the record for the address you are using; a stray duplicate record is the most common cause of a stuck verification.

The flow

  1. Dashboard → Domains → Add domain.
  2. Enter the address you are connecting.
  3. Add the shown record at your registrar (CNAME for subdomains, A for apex).
  4. Verify — the dashboard checks propagation; DNS can take minutes to a few hours depending on the registrar's TTL.
  5. HTTPS issues automatically once DNS verifies — no certificate wrangling, no renewals to remember.

Your LinkMe slug address keeps working alongside the domain, forever — old links, QR codes and bios built on the slug never break.

Common blockers, honestly

Tip

Set the record and walk away for an hour. DNS is the one part of the platform that runs on OTHER companies' clocks; nothing you do faster helps, and most "broken domains" self-heal between coffee and lunch.

Subdomains of your own domain

The same flow covers addresses like blog.yourname.com or shop.yourname.com pointing at different LinkMe sites — each is its own CNAME + verification. A portfolio at the apex and a link-in-bio on a subdomain is a perfectly respectable setup.

After it verifies

  • Share the domain — update bios, QR codes and vCard to the new address (the slug still works; consistency is the point).
  • Watch the first analytics — referrers and the search entry points will take a few days to re-learn the address (see Site visibility & SEO).
  • Renew the domain at your registrar — LinkMe serves the site; the registration bill is between you and your registrar. An expired domain is the one outage we cannot fix.

Note

Domain settings are on dedicated pages with per-site scoping — removing a domain from one site does not touch another. And if verification refuses to go green after 24 honest hours, Contacting support with the domain and registrar name gets it unstuck fast.
