Create your first site
This is the whole journey from an empty account to a live website. It takes about ten minutes; every step links to a deeper guide if you want it.
1. Create your account
Sign up with your email and a strong password, then verify your email — verification is required before sign-in works. You can enable two-factor authentication later in Account → Security (see Account & security).
2. Claim your slug
Your slug becomes your public address: /yourname. Pick something you would say out loud — short, memorable, no clever spellings. The rules and reserved words are in Claim your slug.
3. Pick a theme
Open Dashboard → Appearance and browse the theme gallery. Every theme previews with YOUR content before you commit, and switching later is one click — nothing you write is ever locked to a theme. See Choosing a theme and Live preview.
4. Add your bio and first links
In Dashboard → Links:
- Add your display name, a one-line bio and a profile photo.
- Add 3–5 links to start — the things you most want a visitor to do.
- Give each link an icon, a call-to-action label and (optionally) a highlight badge.
- Pin the most important link so it always renders first.
Tip
Three links that each say exactly what they do beat ten links that all say "click here". A visitor decides in seconds; make each label specific — "Book a 30-min call", not "Website".
5. Publish
Hit publish. Your site is live immediately at /yourname on your free LinkMe address — no build step, no waiting. Draft content stays private until you publish it; see Publish & share for what "live" means and every way to share the URL.
A sane first hour
| Minute | Do this |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | Sign up and verify your email |
| 2–4 | Claim your slug |
| 4–6 | Pick a theme and glance at the live preview |
| 6–10 | Bio, avatar, first 3–5 links — publish |
| 10–20 | Open the site on your phone and fix anything that reads badly |
| 20–30 | Add one custom page or one blog post so the site has depth |
After the first hour
- Content & CMS — custom pages, section ordering, rich text.
- Features — blog, portfolio, services and booking, events, forms.
- Design & themes — dark mode, palettes, custom CSS when you outgrow themes.
- Domains & publishing — putting your own domain on the site.
Note
Nothing you publish is permanent. Every page keeps drafts and versions, every block is editable, and exports exist for everything. The cost of experimenting is one click.
