# Dear hiring team,
Your job post says the platform team is drowning in toil while the roadmap accelerates. That sentence is why I am writing.
I have spent the last six years building for the web at the edge — consulting on Astro architecture, cutting a marketplace TTFB by nearly 90%, and maintaining open-source tooling that tens of thousands of developers run in production. The through-line in all of it: platforms exist so product teams stop re-solving solved problems.
What I would prioritise in the first 90 days:
1. **Measure the toil** — an honest inventory of where engineering hours leak, with the numbers to get leadership buy-in for fixing it. 2. **Golden paths** — one paved road for the top three engineering workflows, documented and tooled, adopted by two teams before expanding. 3. **Reliability budgets** — SLOs that reflect what users actually experience, wired into CI so regressions surface before customers do.
I keep a small consulting roster by choice and am ready to make this role my only one — the problem your post describes is the problem I most enjoy owning.
Sincerely, Abdullah Rahman
